My name is Lori Yearwood and I am a trauma-informed journalist.

What does that mean?

It means that I cover stories about “marginalized” populations with tremendous sensitivity, as well as a propensity for helping readers understand the context and complexities of my sources’ lives.

As a result, I have learned that the strength of the human spirit is beyond anything I ever imagined.  I have also learned that there is great need for trauma-informed journalism that delves not only into the devastation of collapse — but also into the realities of  recovery.

Please take a look at the stories below to read some of my most recent essays and articles. My pieces have been published in The Washington Post, Slate, The Guardian,  CNBC, and many other publications.

Thank you for showing up here — it is my honor to share my stories with you.
